Radiohead Performs 'Just' Live for the First Time Since 2009! (The Bends Classic) (2025)

Radiohead's Four-Night Stand in Madrid: A Musical Journey Through Time

The legendary band Radiohead captivated audiences at Madrid's Movistar Arena with a four-night extravaganza, marking their first concerts in seven years. Each night, they delved deep into their extensive catalog, offering fans a unique and diverse experience. One of the highlights was the long-awaited return of 'Just' from The Bends, which hadn't been performed since 2009. Additionally, 'Optimistic' from the Kid A album made its concert debut since 2018, providing a refreshing twist to the set list.

'Just' was a crowd favorite during the 90s and early 2000s, but it disappeared from their live repertoire after the Reading Festival in 2009. On the other hand, 'Optimistic' served as a gateway to the Kid A album, offering a guitar-driven contrast to the rest of the LP. Despite its initial popularity, it became a rare treat in subsequent years, with only 97 performances, most of which took place during the early 2000s.

This tour stands out as Radiohead's first without promoting a new album or testing new songs. As a result, they've embraced a busking approach, dusting off rare tracks like 'Sit Down. Stand Up' and '(Nice Dream)' that haven't been heard in years. Impressively, they've already performed 41 different songs across just four shows, and bassist Colin Greenwood hinted at a potential extensive set list, suggesting they might play anything, anytime.

The band's set list has been a moving target, with songs like 'Planet Telex' taking on different roles in the show's progression. This unpredictability keeps fans on their toes, eager to discover which songs will be performed each night. Despite the varied set list, certain staples like '2 + 2 = 5,' 'Everything in Its Right Place,' 'Ful Stop,' 'Idioteque,' 'Let Down,' 'Paranoid Android,' 'There There,' 'Weird Fishes/Arpeggi,' and 'You and Whose Army?' have been consistent fixtures.

The tour continues in Bologna, Italy, on November 14, followed by London and Copenhagen. With no North American shows planned for 2026, fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the chance to experience Radiohead's captivating live performances once again.
